Hi Guys! Well, I’ve been quiet for a bit now and I’ll most likely continue with the trend for now.

On November 18th, 2010 at 7:40 pm my beautiful daughter, Katherine Elizabeth was born! Babies are awesome, but they tend to take up all of your time, meaning there is zero time for cooking and zero time for blogging (although currently last night was a miracle and I got like 4 hours of sleep and she is now napping whilst I drink coffee….which means probably later there will be fussing for hours, but we’ll see!) so this blog will have to go on hold for a bit. I promise as soon as life begins to calm down and Kate starts to form a routine, I’ll be back with lots of food and recipes for you! Have a fantastic holiday season, maybe I can at least bake some cookies at some point…we’ll see!

So there she is, my little turkey!! Better go finish this coffee, who knows how much more time I have?!

This is not so much a food post, but a post warning you of what is about to unfold.

I’ve been coerced into auditioning for a reality tv show about cooking!

Fox is apparently starting a new tv show that will be like American Idol, only with food. Its going to be hosted by evil Gordan Ramsey and after watching some clips of the UK version on youtube, I do not even think I’d really want to be on it! But, the audtions for all of NY state are being held a mere 20 minutes from my house, plus my friend Jen harassed me to agree, so it is all more for the novelty of it than anything else.

At any rate, for something we’re doing just for fun, this is a lot of work! First I have to fill out a 12 page application, which reads almost like a state test or something. There are ESSAYS! I have to pretend to have 9 close friends that I can jot down as vouchers for my sanity! Then we have to show up to the casting call with a photo of ourselves, a prepared dish we’ve made, everything to serve it, and a photo of the food in case it doesn’t pan out that they taste it.

The auditions are being held on Sunday and tomorrow Jen and I will practice our dishes. I’m torn between a risotto or espresso creme brulee, but am leaning towards the brulee. You have five minutes with the judges, but there are no microwaves or any way to moderate the temperature of your food. Risotto is awful when it gets cold, so dessert seems like a less stressful option. We’ll see how it goes! I will of course keep all four of my readers up to date on what happens and sneak some pictures with my iphone that I’ll post for you to feel like you auditioned too! For now though, I must go to the gym.
